ON RUE TATIN
In The Black Hills of South Dakota!

I’m offering a three day and a five day cooking class at the High Prairie Lodge in the Black Hills of South Dakota and I’d love for you to join me!

Internationally-recognized expert on food and an award-winning journalist / author, Susan Herrmann Loomis take’s a unique approach to her craft by combining training in journalism with a love for food and the people who produce it.

Extensive travel throughout the United States, France, Italy, the Middle East and parts of Asia has given Susan a depth of knowledge and an appreciation for the rich traditions around food-how it is grown, harvested, and prepared. Susan believes that learning about cooking and food should involve much more than recipes and techniques. Susan delight’s in meeting and introducing the personalities and customs behind the great cuisines of the world.

Susan lives year round in the lovingly-restored convent in the center of Louviers and across the street from the Gothic Church of Notre-Dame de Louviers with her children.

Susan is an award winning author of nine books both food and literary, the most recent of which is Nuts in the Kitchen (Harper Collins). http://www.onruetatin.com/

As in all of my classes, we’ll cook with the finest locally and sustainably produced ingredients in a beautiful and professionally equipped kitchen.  With lodge owner Teresa Ciani as our guide, we’ll visit farms and producers, get inside the local culture, and visit monuments like Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse, and Custer State Park.  Our meals will be relaxed, luxurious, and accompanied by fine cheeses and wines; our time together will be filled with new and delicious experiences.

You will leave your time in South Dakota with additional cooking techniques and experiences, great recipes and menu ideas, a solid knowledge of how to find and use local ingredients wherever you find yourself, and a warm look at a fascinating and beautiful part of the U.S.A.

The price for this exceptional class is $2,200 per person, for the 5 day class and $1,600 for the 3 day class exclusive of lodging. To register, and for information and lodging availability at High Prairie Lodge, contact Teresa Ciani at
