When you arrive at High Prairie Lodge a Black Hills Bed and Breakfast in Centennial Valley, the past meets the present on our 124 year old farm. As you start to relax and enjoy refreshments at our Deadwood SD Lodging bed and breakfast, you can start to plan a tour in the beautiful Northern Black Hills of South Dakota.
When staying at our Black Hills Bed and Breakfast located near Deadwood, SD you are within easy traveling to Bear Butte Mtn., the famous Sturgis Rally,
Spearfish Canyon, Custer State Park, Mt. Rushmore, Crazy
Horse or go west to Devils Tower and Keyhole State Park.
Breakfast is served at 9:00am, but actually starts earlier, with
smells reminiscent of Grandma's house drifting through the
lodge, tantalizing you to get up and enjoy a very hearty gourmet
breakfast before you start your day.
I would be happy to pack you a picnic lunch as you take a bike
ride on the Mickelson Trial, or an early morning flight to view the
Black Hills, golfing, hiking, fishing, boating, the sky's the limit.
In the evening Deadwood SD is one of the place's to be for fine
dining, gambling and dancing. Spearfish has the D.C. Booth
Historic Fish Hatchery and an eclectic choice of restaurants.
End your day around the campfire, on the porch or in the
High Prairie Lodge, "Easy to Find, Hard to Leave".
|We visited for two nights over Labor Day weekend. This was our first Airbnb experience, and it could not have possibly been better! High Prairie Lodge was even more beautiful than the pictures. Teresa greeted us immediately upon our arrival and made us feel relaxed and comfortable from the moment we arrived. The house was abuzz with activity when we got there; we had the good fortune to meet Teresa's lovely husband, mother, children, grandchildren, and multitude of friendly Labradors. Even with all the friendly faces around, our section of the house and our room we completely peaceful and quiet. Our accommodations were lovely, spotless, and exactly like the pictures. We had a private bathroom, and, as the only other guests staying that weekend were in the cabin off the main house, we had the common room to|

Breakfast both mornings was decadent and delicious with everything from homemade quiche and egg bakes to fresh fruit and yogurt to banana bread and muffins fresh from the oven; we were stuffed for hours! Teresa and her mother, Judy, sat and ate with us in the mornings, which, ourselves in fortunately for us, gave us an opportunity to get to know these wonderful ladies even better. It was our first time in South Dakota, and Teresa and Judy were very helpful with recommendations of restaurants, places to go, etc. Both Spearfish and Deadwood have numerous dining options, and both were only about a 20 minute drive from where we were staying. The drive down to Hill City, Mt. Rushmore, Crazy Horse, and Custer was easy and lovely, with many places of interest to stop along the way. At the recommendation of both Teresa the other guests, we attended a wine tasting at Prairie Berry winery in Hill City; it was a lovely way to spend a couple of hours of our afternoon. While we loved all the driving and exploring, it rained for much of our trip, and we were very happy to get back to the Lodge in the evenings to enjoy the hot tub as respite from the chilly mists and to sit on the covered porch drinking wine and enjoying the lovely view of the hills, the night sky, and the wildlife (the deer are far from shy!). This was exactly the relaxing, scenic vacation we were seeking, and our generous hosts were a large part of our wonderful experience! I would wholeheartedly recommend High Prairie Lodge; we're already planning another trip for the spring and certainly hope to stay there again! |
